Default Maxillaria schunkeana

Only 1.5 cm wide, such a cute little guy.
Unfortunatly there's only 1 flower (the plant is still very small), but definatly my favorite bloom this year .
The flower is a beautiful dark red.

Thank you! I'm in love with this little one . Really can't wait for the plant to get a bit bigger but it looks like it's a good grower, it was putting out 3 new bulbs before it started to bloom . Is it normal for this species to start blooming while it's working on new growths..? I'm a newbie at this species .

No, it's not uncommon for this max to bloom on immature growths. I have a Max. uncata that does the same thing.

Ugh, CoolPhrog, you've made me jealous now, been looking for Max. uncata at all the vendors in Holland but can't find it anywhere That is such a cuty!!
And thanks for your reply, it's always good to know growth and bloom habits because they differ so much in orchids!

You are very welcome Renee! Good luck with finding an uncata. If I see any vendors that ship worldwide, I'll let you know.
