Thanks to LittleFrog......Max equitans
Got this from Rob over the summer. Such an odd growth habit for a Max. I was really surprised when it bloomed for me. Would have posted this sooner but have been too busy to be around at all.

Doesn't even look like a Maxillaria! Rob's got some neat stuff. Been over to his greenhouse, Paul?

Yup. This is one of the ones I picked up while I was there. I'm curious as to whether his mother plant bloomed for him this season. If I remember correctly, he said it had been awhile since it had.

Hey, Rob I'm going to grab Paul and descend on you again!!!!! Problem is because of Paul's work we'd have to do it on a Saturday and I know this is show season....
Sorry... Paul, very nice flower... I guess when I go back I'll have to allow more time and look more closely at all Rob has in his neat G/H

Show season for me ends thanksgiving weekend and doesn't start until the end of January.
If my parent plant blooms, I've never noticed it. Flowers are nice though. It is called Maxillaria equitans because of the growth habit. Note that it looks kind of like an equitant oncidium. Equitant means clasping the stem, like a rider holds onto a horse with his legs.

Well that's a neat bit o' trivia. I had wondered why "equitant" before. Now I know
