Hi Whiterabbit - Yours is very pretty dark color. I have one but not 'Cardinal' mine is "Willow Pond". It is a good bloomer and a very different beautiful flower. I am sure you will have many more bloom the next time around. Here is mine:

it's my understanding to grow this like a zygo so cooler temps. I hope it can take the higher summer temps here - the cyms do fine so long as they are shaded and get extra water. wish me luck ;)

:goodluck:

I recently bought one of these at a plant show (I have the "cardinal's roost" variety). It's a nice little plant, but the wind keeps knocking it over. :blushing:

I guess the only thing that disappoints me about it is the fact that it has pretty much no fragrance. You can only pick up on traces of it during the morning. The colors more than make up for it, though.

You have me beat - I never detected fragrance, which seemed odd. But yes the color makes it worthwhile!

Mine was doing well in the house but when it finished blooming I repotted it (roots looked good) and put it outside - think it maybe got too much sun! YIKES - yellowing and dying foliage - tho pbulbs look good

I'm guessing it takes after it's bollea parent in it's light requirement - I have moved it into shade and hope it will do better there.

If any one has any advice for me regarding this - please do chime in!
thanks

Mine seems to be pretty happy in part shade. It's actually on a northeast-facing area, so it gets a little morning sun and stays shaded the rest of the day. :)

thanks - put it on front porch originally - gets morning sun - guess it gets more sun there than I thought lol

now I have it tucked away in back corner of back patio where it will only get a little bit of late afternoon sun

I actually just got one delivered to me today, that I got from eBay. It even has 2 buds. I'm just worried that they may die, since it is very cold here today. All my plants seem fine, but the buds were kind of cold.

Bollopetalum Midnight Blue 'Cardinal

I have two of these. One bought from a HOS speaker and the other from a local seller. The second buy was an accident because I did not have my "have" list with me. That's OK because they are so pretty. The first one was blooming when I bought it and bloomed again several months later. #2 is smaller.
I keep my plants on the plant table in the summer. They get lots of light and warm temps. Right now they are in the GH for the winter. I'll see how they do in my temps.-quite warm in summer.
Enjoy yours.
