Bifrenaria inodora "da Mata"

This is an uncommon inodora variety, it's not albino but doesn't have any purple color. It came from "Orquidário da Mata", and a pic of this same clone was used to illustrate a very good Mongraphy about Bifrenarias, wrote by M. A. Campacci, an important brazilian taxonomist (and a friend of mine!)

Frdemetr what about giving us the full details of the Monogrpah (authors, publisher, date and place of publication and ISBN number for example). Thanks in advance

The monograph was published in november/2003, unfortunately only in portuguese, as a second volume of a collection on Brazilian orchids:

Campacci, Marcos Antonio. Coletânea de Orquídeas Brasileiras 2: Bifrenaria. Editora Brasil Orquídeas, São Paulo/SP, 2003
ISSN 1678-5606

You can find the entire collection on the site: Editora Brasil OrquÃ*deas - Publicações click in "fale conosco" to send an e-mail. From #5 the issues are bilingual (potuguese/english). The #6 was released, but still was not on the site.

Many thanks Frederico. I will visit the site. With my Portugese dictionary and remembering the little Latin I learnt at school more than fifty years ago and from the In nomine Patris days, I can work out quite a bit of what is being said in the 5 or so Hoehne books that I have on Brasilian orchids.

Frederico many thanks for the info. I went to that website and would be grateful if you would please tell me more about the publications.
What is a R$?
Are there lots of photographs in each publications?
Are they paper bound (soft cover) publications?
How many pages are there approximately?
Do they have keys to differentiate the different species?
What is the title of Number 6 in the series?
I presume that "novos especies" in some of the titles means new species. Is that correctIf so what new species (genera) are they in?

Hi Mike!

"R$" are the Brazilian currency; nowadays the rate varies between U$ 1.00=R$ 2,00 and U$ 1.00=R$ 2,50 (the rate changes EVERY DAY, and changes dramatically); we use here the "." instead of "," and vice-versa; if you divide the price in R$ by two, you will have the worst price possibility (as you can see, the publications are relatively cheap)
The series publications (Coletânea de Orquídeas Brasileiras) are soft bound and looks like magazines, with 30-40 pages and have lots of pics and drawings. In the text you will find technical botanic descriptions, very useful to separate species!
"Novas Espécies" = "New Species", there are nine in number 5 and nine more in number 6 (same topic); 5 & 6 are bilingual.

Frederico muito obrigado. You think that you have problems! At present our rand (unit of currency) is about R10,40 to the US$ and so I would have to multiply the price by about X 5 to convert it to our rand. However I am going to ask my friend to try and buy them for me. I think that I am going to buy the Bifrenaria and the Encyclia one and the Laelia one. I have given my friend the money to buy me Henry Oakley's new book on Lycastes but since I gave him the money the rand has dropped from about R6,00 to the US$ to R10,40 to the US$ and so the price of the book has risen to over R1000. So we are waiting for the economy to improve
