shriveling of the bulbs

Steve, I don't think that this should be an automatic response. Some
Lycaste
species' pseudobulbs will shrivel dramatically during the "dry season".
Poorly timed watering
might
interrupt a routine dormant period sending the plant into premature growth before the climate provides timely support.
