Cochleantes Amazing in water culture

I saw a picture of your beautiful flower and read your description of the scent and chuckled when mine became scented and smelled like a basket of rotting fruit. However, two days later I was happy to discover that you were right. It is a delight.
By the way, I use this method mostly to get clean rot-free new growth and then I transfer to SH, which is what I was about to do with this one since I first thought it had a new growth instead of a bud. I probably did not have my glasses on.
Aren't orchids full of surprises! Some of them just have sleeping genes that they can wake up to be able to live with us and make us their devoted caretakers. Just like domestic animals once did.

This little mermaid stopped me from transplanting it again into SH medium from water culture by putting out another flower. This one developed above water and is bigger and has much better form especially on the left side. For comparison the second picture is the first flower that developed under water. The roots are still in pristine condition and the tips are growing continuously.
