Default Bifrenaria mellicolor vs. Bifrenaria calcarata

Finally I saw the differences between Bifr mellicolor and Bifr calcarata! Both blooming together! The size is different (mellicolor flower is bigger), but the spur is the hallmark. The curve in calcarata's spur is amazing! pics #1 and #2, mellicolor flower and spur; #3 and #4, calcarata flower and spur; #5, both (mellicolor at left)

Thanks for the photo comparison! It's very informative!

Thank You very much, now I just have to find a reasonable source for its purchase, I like the selection there but the prices are very unreasonable, i have found several plants that they offer from other nurseries for a fraction of a fraction of what they charge. thankyou for the help, this ones going on the list.

Hi unhappy!

My plants are about three/four years old, but they are only two years with me!
I don't know if there is an alba forma of these I posted yesterday, but the "large flowers" Bifrenarias have! (search for Bifr harrisoniae, tyrianthina and inodora - you can take a look of some of these in my Gallery). As Dorothy stated, Bifr leucorrhoda (Section Stenocoryne, "small flowers" Bifrenarias) is white w red dot in the lip;Bifr stefanae is yellow (both in my Gallery). There is not a trully "red" Bifrenaria, but some formas of harrisoniae and tyrianthina are very dark purple ("tyrianthina" means "dressed in puple" in latin). Bifr atropurpurea is also dark purple. Wellcome to the "Bifrenaria World", a small (~20 species) and almost exclusively brazilian genus!

Thankyou both, I will be on the search for these plants, I know a few sources for some of the more exotic plants so I will ask around. They dont seem to need forever before they will bloom, maybe I can mount one??? we'll see.
