Max. Tenuifolia P-bulbs Wrinkling?
I just received a Max. Tenuifolia and immediately after receiving it (prior to repotting it) the psudobulbs began to wringle... and now they're looking like my fingers if I've sat in the hot tub for an hour. Can anyone help with this issue or is this natural?
Thanks!

Usually the cause if not enough water. If I have pseudobulbs that start to wrinkle like that I pump the water to them until they a plump once again. What kind of medium are you using??

They are in bark. I was also told by a friend that it was a lack of water. I've currently (three days now) put them on my vanda watering schedule, everyday. Should I possibly even go as far as doubling that and watering it twice a day until it recovers?

I wouldn't go overboard. Every day like the vandas I would think would be okay.

what size bark are you using? it looks like your max is in a teak basket too? possibly a combination of a course bark and a very open basket is not allowing for enough moisture retention. i grow my tenufolia in a mixure of fine bark and spahgnum in a clay pot. they don't like to get too dry. just slightly between waterings, like most maxillarias.

They have a combination of sphagnum moss and med. bark. Yes, it is in a teak basket. I'm thinking I'm going to dump the bark and just grow it in sphagnum.

just becareful not to keep it too moist. 'evenly moist'...whatever that means, lol. after the roots have been a little on the dry side for a bit and then to go into soggy sphagnum will bring on a whole new list of issues so mind your watering for a couple weeks.

It happened the same to me with my Maxi but after I repotted it and watered on a daily basis the pseudobulbs are plump and smooth again, but the flowers that it came with wilted. I'm pretty sure that it had to do with the stress due to changes in weather and such but it's happily growing so I'll be expecting new blooms soon.

I water my Max daily when it's humid like this. I also have it in a wooden box with good air flow. You mentioned it just arrived. Perhaps the trip and being in a box a little too long caused this and it will snap out of it once it receives your TLC.
