On a whim, I decided to grab a Propetalum La Jolla Delight at my local orchid society meeting…I’m a sucker for cool looking pseudobulbs and this plant had some cool looking pseudobulbs! The plant is young—maybe 3 pseudobulbs the size of large grapes.
While I’m a sucker for cool looking pseudobulbs, I’m not a sucker for cool growing pseudobulbs…I got caught up in the moment without realizing this plant is probably not going to appreciate the +95F/35C temperatures in the shade outdoors no matter how much water I give it.
I don’t want to grow this plant indoors if I don’t have to, but I also don’t want to burn it out on the porch or let it stagnate in deep shade—any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any input—my heart sank when I saw ‘cloud forest’ listed in the habitat of one of the parents…Cool bulbs though
