New to Max tenuifolia

Just got a max tenuifolia with a tag that said Mem Ben Berliner (variability x tenuifolia). Thought these were yellow?. No matter. The media looks pretty broken down, not sure the best way to repot. Located west Central Florida, noticing several grasslike new leaves starting adjacent to older p bulbs. New growths?. Some new flower buds, some of the older p bulbs are a little wrinkled. I obviously don't know much about these, and any insights are welcome

It's a hybrid, Ben Berliner, between variabilis and tenuifolia. Carter & Holmes remade this cross a few years back with two yellow parents, but the progeny came out brown. Culture for this hybrid, and its parents is pretty much the same.

You can use the Search in the top maroon menu to search for Maxillaria variabilis to see how people here grow them. In brief, they like to stay wet. Many people stand them in dishes of water so they don't dry out, but you probably wouldn't need to do this during your rainy season. Don't peel off the dry bracts on the rhizomes. Roots crawl down behind these into the medium. Give plenty of sun short of sunburn. Yes, now would be a good time to repot.

A quick note to add to the above, through my experience I've noted that these guys don't love their roots disturbed. When you repot, be gentle, maybe rinse as much media away as opposed to using a tool/fingers to remove it.

the flowers are smallish and they like to hide in the foliage. be careful again not to break off any of the old stuff it hides many things. and all they said above. BUT you got a straight tenuifolia it looks like to me.
