Zygo repotting while in spike

I have two Zygo seedlings that I was planning to repot this fall, assuming they were too young to spike. However, they are pushing new spikes and roots. These are complex hybrids, one is spiking from a mature growth and the other seems to be spiking from a juvenile growth.

I wanted to repot them this fall as, based on my limited experience with Zygos, I've noticed they push some good growth when temperatures cool down but they slow down a lot on warm weather. So I was hoping to give them some cool months plus spring to develop some nice roots before next summer...

But now I don't wanna lose those spikes

Should I take a risk and repot in late fall/early winter after they lose their flowers or may as well just wait until the spring?

I think you can safely repot in fall/winter after you have enjoyed the flowers. "Cold" is not all that cold. And while there are often some warm days in April, the spring pattern is mostly May gray to June gloom... So you'll have lots of "cool" for many months. If the forecasts for El Niño hold, we could even have a repeat of last year...

If your Zygopetalum is a complex hybrid and blooms a few times a year, it can be potted anytime of the year. I just hate potting them as the roots crack so easily that I have to be very, very careful. One of them got knocked over last month and was completely out of the rock and I had to completely pot it up again. It clearly less affected by the trauma than I was...it just kept growing and is now in bloom.
