Zygo Amanda with new shoot or spike? Male
Default Zygo Amanda with new shoot or spike?

I purchased a zygo a few months ago on the bargain table from a local nursery. It was $20 (50% off) because it was past it's bloom and I guess they thought it wouldn't sell. Anyway, I took it home, repotted it and placed it in my small 2.5 season greenhouse outside.

It is growing well and has sent up a new growth, which is about 3+ inches tall already. This morning I noticed, on the side of the new growth, another small growth. Is this a spike forming or is it yet one more growth. Either way I'm happy since it's doing so well.

Whatta ya think?

Look at the old growths. From where do the old spikes emerge?

I cannot really tell. It could be either, especially since some Zygos start spikes or new growths before they are mature. Do let us know.

I checked it again today - well, almost every hour! I think it may be a spike, but it's awful think for a spike. Either way, spike or shoot, I'm really happy since it's growing well.

Patience, patience. The plant will tell you, but it will take weeks or even a month or two.

Just an update. She's blooming like crazy with two spikes. Her sister also has a spike coming up as well!
