A terrible title for this post. I’m sorry, but I didn’t know how to frame my subject.

I have a Maxillaria tenufolia sitting by a cymbidium at the moment, and I noticed a long, green leaf growing in the cymbidium media. It was thin like a hair and definitely had some root on it.

I’ve struggled to know where this lone thin leaf came from, but I noticed it looked like one of my Max. tenufolia leaves, albeit very small and immature. The leaf was not attached to any pseudobulb, obviously.

These plants are both grown indoors right now around other orchids. Temps are 68F-74F. Humidity ranges from 40%-70%. West-facing opaque window.

Is this a possibility with a Max.?

Photo? Doesn't sound like Max tenuifolia.

Photo not available. I pulled it out, threw it away.

I didn’t think it sounded like an orchid/Max.

Likely weed. My Cyms tend to be weed factories, that semi-terrestrial environment is very encouraging to all sorts of "volunteers"

Neither plant is outside, but, it could be a dormant seed that’s sprung up.
