no fragrance.a primary hybrid of tenuifolia x variabilis. full Sun am and protected West in the pm. Grown wet in sphagnum, top covered in medium orchiata. If you have the heat it does these well to grow them on the wet side.

thanks for looking

i would throw our little experience in as well, that even if temps are marginal to cold, keep maxis on the wet side has seemed to help them. we sprayed all through the cold winter and the maxis have done great. these guys seem bulletproof!

i have two tenuifolia plants and they confuse me the most.

i grow one in a 3 gallon SH bucket and in full sun. it is massive but rarely blooms. i have the other, much smaller, mounted and in 3/4 sun and it flowers about 6 times a year. i grow about 5 other max plants and they are all kept in close to the first culture and do well.

i feel like tenuifolia needs to be wet but also dry out? it is really confusing to me

I keep them wet all the time when the sun is hot and full. Over the winter they stayed mostly inside and protected from any temps below 50 degrees and on the dry side.

I just have a few of these plants and by no means have been scientific in my approach to getting them to grow.

when you get enough of these they give off that familiar coconut scent. I dont think it really smells like coconut but I guess close enough.

they just love to hide.

Have you ever smelled coconut-scented geranium (Pelargonium grossularioides)? They smell just like coconut-scented surfboard wax. It's a winter annual here just going to seed if anybody wants to try it. Unlike most scented 'geraniums' (which are really Pelargoniums) it's toxic so you shouldn't make jelly or tea with it.
