Thanks Roberta.
I do agree with you, one environment won't work for all orchids. I am still trying to figure out some other options b'z I can see my phal leaves initially got burned, I have to move them at the bottom shelf and also add some shade for them. Since you are also in Southern California, I would like to learn from your experience of growing different types of orchids in the outdoors. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Phals need to move indoors NOW... nights are getting too cold for them. They are low-light warm-growing plants. Take a look at my website, the Index of Plants to see what I grow outdoors. Where you live, the weather is a little less temperate (cooler lows in winter, hotter in summer) so your range of what you can get away with is a little different than mine, but generally, pretty close.

Thanks, Roberta,
Good to know, I will move them inside ASAP.
Also will check your website to get information about growing orchids outside in Southern California.
Thank you so much.

Hi Roberta,
I moved all my phals indoors now. I have a question is there any effect on their growth b'z of environmental change, I noticed that most of them are putting new roots, so curious would they continue to grow or if they will pause to grow.
Thank you.
Thanks.

Phals are growing all the time. (That's why they aren't fussy about being repotted) They grow better when they are warm. Remember, you don't see the results of changes over days, more like months. Orchids don't do anything fast., But with more warmth, you very likely will see more growth. Do keep up on the watering, they will dry out faster in the house.
