I was surprised to look down a few nights ago and see these massive beetles on my orchid!!!! then i realized they were, in fact, pretty awesome flowers!

i grow it in the bright side of the lath house and low (other plants shade it too) in a low dish always full of water.

not truly black but an insanely deep maroon and they reveal that in the sun.

no scent i could detect at night or in the late afternoon BUT i did hilariously pour some very dirty water up my nose trying to smell these buds
