Lycaste aromatica

When I saw how different my flowers looked, I was thinking mine might be a different variety but maybe it was mislabeled.

Kind of disappointing since the main reason I purchased it was because of the fragrance.

Did the flowers open with green sepals and then turn yellow? Or were they yellow to begin with? There's a whole group of Lycastes that bloom on the bare pseudobulbs, with yellow petals and greenish sepals. If it was yellow to begin with, it is also possible that it is a hybrid with Lyc. aromatica (or one of those close relatives) strongly in the background but something else causing it to not be completely deciduous, and with a more clear yellow color.

Sorry for hijacking your thread Hypostatic, but...

They were yellow from the start, even in bud stage.

I looked up images for Lycaste cruenta and it dose look like a match, maybe I'll just call it that from now on and put aromatica back on the wish list.

The description for cruenta on Andy's says "very fragrant", so I'm not too sure that's the correct ID
