Don't know how I feel about this one. I suppose taking a couple of years to figure out what it wanted, it's a bit of a let down. Or perhaps my interest waned during the interval. There are 5 "inflorescences", three are smaller and facing other directions. Intermediate temps, east window with supplemental light.

The flowers themselves are nice, especially since it makes such large clusters of them, but after a long wait, I can see why you are unsure what you feel about this one. Though in all honesty, this isn't my 'type' of orchid.

But I have also been in the situation where I buy an orchid because I really liked it at the time of purchase, baby it for a couple years until it blooms, only to discover that either my tastes had changed over time, or I built another, more grandiose image of it in my head during the years of anticipation.

It’s quite lovey

I have a coconut orchid (cousin) and it take a while to get used to the flowers low and in the plant. It’s just weird. Now I love it but it was an adjustment.

Like, “why won’t you come out? Show off? Your cousin the schomberg has a 3m inflorescence and you can’t get out the sheathing??”

Oh, but on a serious note....5years at anything and to see it through, kudos to you on just that.

It does look very well grown though. Mine just bloomed for the first time as well and I kind of feel the same way about the flowers. I actually didn’t know it was blooming till I smelled something like daffodils in the courtyard. I’ll let it stick around for another couple of years and see if it grows on me. Is yours at least fragrant?

I got it just for it being something different. Its size is a little problematic; too big to hang where it would do best. It is where the Coelogyne should be (and will be).

It does have a smell, a generic smell I don't care for. It isn't strong, I don't smell it unless I'm up close.

I have grown orchids from tiny seedlings only to discover, when they bloom, they are not fragrant (as I expected) or I did not like the flower. And, sometimes, my tastes do change. I can usually easily find homes for the orchids I no longer want.

My attitude would be that it’s hard to justify the space for such a small flower show, especially if growing indoors. If it were mine, I’d fix it to a tree outdoors and say if it lives that’s fine, if not, that’s fine too. That’s how I make the decision.
