Introducing myself :)
Hello, I am new here and still fairly new to the orchid growing hobby. I received my first orchid in February of 2018, because I had no idea what I was doing that orchid is no longer with me*🙁
Since then I have lived and learned, and my collection has grown. I currently have 17 orchids. They range from phals, dens, vandas, oncidums, encyclia, cattleya and terrestrial. Most of them are in LECA medium in a self watering setup and doing pretty well. I reside in southern AZ so it's hot and dry most of the time. Currently it's unusually cold so the entirety of my collection resides in my living room. I plan to move most of it outside during the spring and summer months. I haven't seen all of my orchids in bloom, some of them I ordered as seedlings so it will be a while before I can enjoy them. Others are recovering from setback. I put my very first orchids through a lot while I was trying to learn the basics, most of them suffered because of it (and lost a few sadly), but the ones who survived seem to be doing well now. It takes a long time before you see any results one way or another, patience is a lesson Im still trying to learn lol. I truly enjoy growing these plants, I definitely look forward to growing more, and sharing more.
Thank you for taking the time to read my intro!
