I have been battling the sickness for about seven years now, and although my friends and family have been supportive, I decided it was time to join a forum of like-minded individuals.

I have a collection of ~25 plants, which I'm sure is quite modest compared to some of the collections around here, but I simply don't have anymore eh... territory.

I have recently had to move leaving behind a superlative lit basement greenhouse, to a house where my collection is now housed facing a bathroom window on a baker's rack. Needless to say, my orchids are a little pieced-off about their change in lifestyle, and I'm having to learn to take care of them all over again.

I'm sure this forum will be of great help to me, and I can't wait to start diving into the threads and getting to know you all.

Glad you have joined us at the OB
About 25 orchids, you say
What type of orchids do you grow?

Definitely explore the board, check out the galleries, post photos and ask questions .
We are here to help

Thanks for the welcome!

I wouldn't say I grow a specific type, just whatever happens to catch my eye. A few of mine have come from friends who didn't want to take care of them, and some exceptional supermarket specials. Overall it's probably a pretty plain collection. Here's a few off the top of my head.

Un-named(well, I call her Claire) Huge white Cat. 50+ growths
BLC. Richard Mueller
Un-named peach Cat.
Un-named Phal. Has >1/8" thick flowers that last about 8-9 months.
Phal. Bellina
Un-named white phal with pink blush
Zygopetalum Redvale 'Fire Kiss'
Un-named deep-purple dendrobium
Un-named small white/yellow dendrobium
paph (Black Maudie type)
Paph Michael Koopowitz
Paph Druryii

Good bunch. I had a huge white cat once, but it only had four growths. (Sorry about that)

Oh, Lion -
If you are looking for orchids to catch your eye.. check out member's gallery .. you'll be in no time ..
You can post photos of your NOIDs ( as we call them - orchids with no identification) in the Identification Forum. We may not be able to give the hybrids official names but we can attempt to figure out which orchids come close .. species orchids are less difficult to identify ..
It sounds like you are off to a great start with your collection .. let it be said that many if not most members here are afflicted with OAD .. Orchid Acquisition Disorder .. and go through withdrawals if an orchid isn't purchased within a certain time range .. some more frequent than others .. it's obtained once you get bitten by the orchid bug and are left with an epiphytic itch .. there is no cure .. and the only the treatment is to acquire another orchid - there is no place online that gives as much support to this affliction than the OB ..
We welcome 'sufferers'
