New Phalaenopsis Male
Question New Phalaenopsis

, members, I purchased 3 new Fragrant Phalaenopsis Orchids in spike (see attached) from Odom Orchids in Fort Pierce, Fl. I have a few questions about how I should re-pot into S/H and when. These plants are in Sphagnum Moss. I also need an opinion as to if I should re-pot my Phalaenopsis Bellina in bloom. So, let's get on with it: 1) As you can see all 3 are either in spike or in flower (at the end of it's growing cycle). Should I let the plants sit and get used to there "New" environment for a week and then re-pot to S/H-OR/should I re-pot to S/H now? The question is directed to all 3 new plants. 2) Can I re-pot my Palaenopsis Bellina in bloom planted in LECA but wrong pot OR/ should I wait for the flower to drop and then re-pot into a proper pot with LECA? All 4 plants need your help (I need your help also), so it would be nice if I could get some help from members..Zoren...

I am not sure how it is best to grow in your climate but they look very nice. Good luck!

Whatever the climate, the general rule for transitioning to SH is to wait for new root growth. Waiting just a week is nothing in plant terms, they get adusted to conditions over a longer period than that.

And yes, you can repot while in bloom, it doesn't hurt the plants. More care is needed as the only real risk is snapping off buds or spikes from clumsy handling.
