My orchid collection doubled today during a visit to the Michigan Orchid Society's Annual Palm Sunday Show! I think this is a good indication that I'm hooked.

I bought a phalaenopsis in the summer of '06, guess I was a goner when it bloomed again in '07.

I hope to spend many happy hours learning about orchids from all the knowledgeable folks on the board. Especially now that I've learned to post (thanks to Susanne B ).

Enjoy your orchids,
Monica

Hi Monica! I'm so jealous that you got to go to the show! I went to the Grand Rapids show so the other half wasn't too keen on driving down that far to go to another one. Next year though! I think you will have fun on here learning about all your new purchases. Feel free to ask any questions you may have about your new babies. Everyone here is so willing to help out and offer advice. What orchids did you get by the way?

Welcome to the board Monica--what did you "find" at the show?

Hi Sarah,

I tried to respond to you last Sunday to talk about the MOS Palm Sunday show but had lots of issues with the board (couldn't log in as more than a guest). I traveled for work Mon-Wed and this is my first chance to try the board again. Seems to be working for me now!

The show in Troy was wonderful. It was a great experience and I'm looking forward to one in Ann Arbor in April.

We have a place in Harrison so I'm familiar with your area. I'm not suprised that you meet some resistance at driving so far for an orchid show! Perhaps you could entice him by making it an overnight event.

I bought the following:

Encyclia fragrans,
Angraecum eburneum,
Cymbidium eburneum,
Coryanthes speciosa,
Paphiopedilum - Hsinying Rainbow 'Round' x Hsinying Sceptre 'C.H.#1',
Paphiopedilum - Pinnochio (moquettianum x primulinum), and Oncidium - Sharry Baby.

On Sunday morning, while admiring my new acquisitions, I broke a perfect bud off of the Paph (Hsinying). Yes, I am still crushed!

Although very nervous, I feel that some of my small plants need to be repotted. I bought medium and pots today. Think I'll give it a whirl tomorrow. Any suggestions...? Thanks!

Hi Adam,

Thanks for the welcome. The following found their way into my car:

Encyclia fragrans,
Angraecum eburneum,
Cymbidium eburneum,
Coryanthes speciosa,
Paphiopedilum - Hsinying Rainbow 'Round' x Hsinying Sceptre 'C.H.#1',
Paphiopedilum - Pinnochio (moquettianum x primulinum), and Oncidium - Sharry Baby.

On Sunday morning, while admiring my new acquisitions, I broke a perfect bud off of the Paph (Hsinying). I don't know if I'll recover from the shame...!

be lots of orchids, I always set a limit. Hey, at least I'm consistent. I consistently go over the limits I set!
