Just kidding. I was from Chicago until recently and just moved to the Sunbelt. I used to grow plants under artificial lights during harsh, no light Chicago winters and now I get all the sun I want here in Texas! I bought an orchid because I was sick of my blooms fading. Since then I've bought eight more plants and I joined this board to figure out how not to kill them.

Aboard MiMi you've arrived at the best orchid forum on the web . There is alot of information here and no question is a silly question, we all started the same way, one chid at a time "bet you can't grow just one" . Take a walk into the gallery and check out other OB members photos and please do not hesitate to add some of your own.

I started with 4 dendrobiums, I don't know the nomenclature but I got them at Whole Foods for very little money. After I read a lil bit and found out how long they last I wanted more orchids. I have 3 Phals. one is yellow and scarlet markings and it says Phal Brother New Canary 'DeLeon' from home depot. The next two I bought at an orchid store in a richardson Tx, a phal. taisoku swan -- its has 5" flowers, its just ravishing! I have a minuature but I broke the buds off on the way home but it had sm bright pink flowers. Now a new spike is growing and another spike is trying from the broken off piece. I am expecting a fedex of phal. carolina bronze meteor and dendrobium spectabile today! I must have these flowers in my space and blooming at all times. This is fun. Oh, all this was last week. Thanks for the warm welcome
