Greeting Everyone,
I'm going on to 5 years living in the city of eternal spring, though this past month it feels more like the city of eternal showers
. While living here I really never fancied gardening and much less knowing anything about orchids until March/2016 when my wife told me I was going to be a father for the first time
and so a few weeks after that we were told a baby girl was developing nicely inside my wife. My first though for the strangest reason become--I need flowers in and around the house. So that's what I did, every chance I got there was a new pot entering the house until randomness become specific and I feel in love with a wonderful purple Cattleya. 40+ orchids later, I still get excited about seeing one, common or not.
Since then I have tailor my acquisition of orchids mainly from people that have abandoned their orchids. So now when I go out on walks around the city and see one that isn't doing so great I try to give the owner a few tips on improving its condition or offer them money for it. The most unpleasant rescue was of a Cattleya amidst tall weeds, an angry dog and with cow dung as its mix, man I didn't know how hard poop can be until there I was flailing a hammer at it. Glad to be on here and I'll try to document some of the rescues, got a huge Embreea rodigasiana that is waiting for TLC.
