Default I know NOTHING

Hi all! I'm brand new to the forum.
I have two orchids that I bought from WalMart and Albertsons because they had 'pretty flowers.' I've had one about two years. It is large and has bloomed several times for me. I have one small one that has bloomed twice.
They've had rudimentary care, no fertilizer or anything but water. But they seem to be very healthy producing more leaves with strong color, lots of flowers.
I'm hoping all of you can give me advice on taking better care of them...

Welcome, Vondi!
It seems you don't need any help, by your description.
Do you have any specific question about your plants?

BTW, we all love photos.

Hi everyone. You are all so nice I just posted a little while ago. So here's my dilemma. My large orchid, and now that I think about it I've probably had it three years instead of two. It has developed A LEAF on the top of the flower stem.WHAT is that and what do I do about it can I remove it and plant it or do I just leave it? I'll send the picture as soon as I figure out how to work the photos function.

My photo doesn't HAVE a URL???
It's on my phone gallery!

It's probably a kieki. When it gets about 3" of roots you can gently remove it and pot it up. After 5 posts you can post pictures for us.

Go to advanced and click then scroll down to manage attachments. You should be able to choose a photo from there. If its too large you will get an error message, just shrink it down to the parameters the window gives you. And Welcome! We are a bunch of lovable, knowledgeable know it alls.

Based on the info I'd say it's a keiki. You can remove it once it has enough roots to support itself.

Welcome.

The longer you leave the keiki attached, the longer the roots will get. The longer the roots are, the better it will do after you separate it from the main plant. Then you can share it with another orchid grower.

Welcome to Orchidboard. :-)
For the photos, normally you can't post any until you have made 5 posts (we had too many problems with spammers in the past). So if you still run into issues attaching a photo, made 3 more posts and then try!
