I just bought a cymbidium in spring, and maybe it's still confused about the switch from a greenhouse to my house, but it's currently in spike (3 spikes). Summer in Mexico city is really humid and windy at night, it seems that was enough to trigger blooms (according to my thermometer, it was 17C at night). I think you should try and see if you're successful
Sadly the cymbidiums they had were literally too big for my house...I think its becoming mandatory to move to a victorian house...the paph they had was in horrible conditions, but I got a complex hybrid, the flowers were already dry but 6 bulbs and 2 growths! So im quite happy, with the problem that I have no idea of what it is...the flower looks like (said by an absolute beginner) something between oncidium and odontoglossum and the bulbs are like my nelly isler's so im thinking on putting in bark with some spaghnum mpss as the nelly isler. I think it has some sort of fungus infection but the pseudobulbs look healthy
