Ceramic artist of orchid pottery
Hi everyone! My name is Ashley Keller and I am a ceramic artist from Canada who has recently started pursuing my dream of being a full-time artist.
I wanted to reach out to your group to let you know about my work with orchid pottery. I just released a series targeted for use as display pots however I will soon also be listing pots specifically for Neofinetia and Cymbidiums.
**UPDATE: I now have pots available for Neofinetia orchids and have added some photos below
I would love your feedback on my work so far. My website and online shop can be found at Ashley Keller Art and I offer worldwide shipping.

Welcome.
Some very smart craftsmanship, ...a little out of my league but very, very nice!

I think you may want to check with the admins and moderators of Orchidboard regarding terms of advertising products here.
I'm not saying it isn't allowed, but there may be some terms and conditions. Always post advertising in the classified section.
I will send a link to this thread to a moderator, who can move it to the right section.

Okay thank you. I scanned the forum topics but wasn't sure where this might fit and thought introducing myself might make sense. If there is a more appropriate forum I would be happy to have this moved there.

Welcome Ashely!
As best as I can remember (I've been absent from the forum for over a year) the policy was that advertising was reserved for members who had been around a while. However, given the current shortage of mods to discuss this with and that you did start your advertising with a polite introduction, I'm inclined to leave this thread as it is for the time being.
Besides, finding functional and beautiful handcrafted pots for Neofinetia is not so easy. If you can get input from Neofinetia growers for your designs that would be a bonus. I remember that some years ago, someone else was producing handmade Neo pots, and people who grow these orchids gave him/her lots of good tips on what makes an ideal pot (dimensions, drainage, aeration...) There's not so much posting activity here on Neos as there once was, 4-5 years ago Orchidboard was in a Neo frenzy.
Do you also grow/collect orchids, or is your hobby only making pots for them?

Thank you so much for the warm welcome! In answer to your question, yes, I absolutely keep orchids and have had a variety of species over the last ten years. I currently have a smaller collection that includes a Dendrobium (Tiny Twister, currently flowering! ), Oncidium (Sharry Baby Dark Chocolate) and Brassia (Eternal Wind).
I started my business because I couldn't find very many containers or pots for my orchids that I liked or that were appropriate for orchids and I thought I may be able to help fill that gap while helping out other orchid lovers.
What I'm discovering is that different types of orchids would prefer different styles of pots and I thought this community could provide some feedback on what I've currently made as well as let me know what they would like to see in the design of orchid pots (in general as well as for specific species).
Any feedback or opinions would be greatly appreciated and I will also search through the forum for past conversations so thank you for the tip!

Welcome to the Orchid Board!
I might suggest you research orchid shows within a day's driving distance from you and contact the organizer to arrange a booth to sell your wares at the shows. A lot of cactus and succulent potters I know do this at cactus shows.
You might consider sculpting pots for other kinds of orchids, as well.

Some very nice work! Are you familiar with semi-hydroponics? Creating pots for that cultural method would increase your potential customer base.

Thank you! And thanks for the suggestion. I am not familiar with semi-hydroponics but I will absolutely take a look at that pot style to see if it's something I could make.

Sure you could! The only difference is that the drain holes are on the side of the pot to allow the pot to retain a small reservoir of water after being watered.
