Default Wooden container for Orchid

I have a wooden container that would work for an orchid (6 inc sized) and It has slatted sides. What is the best way to go about transferring my orchid into a wooden container and maintaining it in this type of container? I saw some as hanging containers and am kind of thinking along those lines with this. This is a new step for me and I want to do it right and not loose the orchid , nor loose anything that would be put in a container like this, Needing your input on what to do step by step so I can use this little wooden container and still grow the miniture orchid right in it.Thank you.

What type of orchid? Can you show pictures of the wood container (is it a traditional orchid basket)?

I have trouble with posting pictures. Used to be easier til something changed? It looks like a little crate, but on two sides has a heart-shaped. Two sides are straight and slatted. I did put an orchid (Phalaenopsis min. sized) leaving the roots and plant material still intack in shape of plastic sleeve I took it out of. I added Spanish moss to set it into, and put a saucer under the wooden pot for drainage. What do you think? I just did this last night when I got home. Another rescue from Walmarts-was bone-dry.Also was in their garden part of the store where wasn't heated too. It is in flower too and I gave it water. Trying something new. I like the way an orchid looks in a wooden container. I have kept some still in their plastic containers in a teapot, with stones and plastic craft mesh (used for cross stitch) on the bottoms of my teapots for drainage and humidity.
