Beginners Luck(Woo-Hoo!)
Sorry I can't display any pictures. Technically challenged as to how to online(sorry). This novice Orchid grower was just rewarded for all her care and diligence with one open pod on her Orchid plant . It has begun flowering. It is white with dotted splotches of purple on its white surface. I am still learning the names of them, but the closest I can come to with the aid of my Orchid book(with many beautiful pictures of different varieties) Is the Cymbidium Bethlehem 'Ridgeway'. My first successful bloomer. Is it ok to move this plant now that the flowers are starting to open? I took it from the bakers rack the was in front of an east window and set it on the diningroom table. Light from same window is coming in, but not as closely as before.I have lost some in the past (poor things) as I fumbled and made mistakes. I rescued some min. Orchids from Walmarts a couple months back that was sorely in need of hydration. I lost one out of about 7. Most of them that had crinkled leaves revived well. I still have one that shows crinkled leaves but has been getting watered. Pretty much the rest is showing promise. Walmarts had them in their outdoor garden shop at a register with 7 dying Orchids that they were just going to throw away eventually. I got a $6.00 plant for $2.50 each with live or die expectations. I have seen some real progress with them. Just a novice who loves Orchids.
