Greetings from North California
Hello, everybody. My name is Andrew and I am a 17-year-old male from northern California. I have grown carnivorous plants for several years, but I recently got into orchids (last weekend) after a brief encounter with them a couple of years ago that did not end well.
I have attended the Sacramento orchid show for as long as I could remember, but I have always been nervous about keeping one. I finally bought a Laelia anceps var. guerrero that was sold bare root. Since then, I have also purchased a few cattleya clones, a dendrobium nobile, a phalaenopsis and rescued a miltoniopsis that was on sale but has root rot.
I am very excited to have revisited the forums and be able to participate in this amazing community.

Welcome, Andrew! Do you also live in Sacramento, or just nearby? Do you know about the Speaker's Day for the Sierra Nevada Judging Center in July? If this is not the show you refer to, I recommend it highly--you can get some great information at the presentations.

Hope you can make it to Speaker's Day. The chance to hear Roy Tokunaga speak is worth the cost of admission. Also great vendors, auction, etc.
