Default A Re-Introduction from Texas

Hello Orchid friends! I joined and introduced myself last year, but had terrible trouble with my phone and the worst time trying to keep updating here. My hoard has multipled by the dozen several times in the last year of collecting and will probably continue to do so. I have large orchids down to very tiny species and hybrid divisions.

My name is Kelsey, I live in Fort Worth, Texas. I have plans to write and compile several books both informational and extremely colorful. To complete these tasks I've set myself, I have to visit with, interview and photograph many, many collections and wild specimen. We plan to buy a camper/RV to live in full time and will be traveling across the states and to other countries to visit people and Orchids!
With that said, my agenda is to make as many Orchid- collecting friends as I can! Honestly meeting other plant lovers is a dream come true and I want to feature incredible people and their hard work!!💗
I have an Instagram specifically for Orchids/Plants/People, occasionally my art work can also be viewed there. I can be found under @orchidtraveler
I absolutely love to talk to and interact with Plant collectors and hobbyists worldwide! I'll post a few photos of my grow area in the comments, but I'll also be posting in the grow area forum shortly!

Note: I am also available and ecstatic for work, I clean greenhouses!! Organizing, repotting, dividing, mounting, creative ideas, artwork, watering and weeding, identifying (this is like a game for me), show help and display building, gardening and garden building, and just about anything else you can think up to do with orchids, greenhouses and plants😄
(I will travel when compensated, and will be even easier when we get our camper)
I have worked with Big Leaf Orchids, Kathy Baxley (A large personal collection and greenhouse) I've been building gardens and container Gardens since I was 16, and I am an ongoing Horticulture student. I will be working an upcoming Orchid show here in Fort Worth, in April😆😆😆

Kelsey, I've enjoyed your posts and so am pleased to know a bit more about you. Like you, I enjoy time with fellow growers; in my library I've set up a series of programs with our local Extension Agent which will culminate with my world famous "Orchids as Houseplants" presentation in September - a program I've done for at least 10 or 11 years through the library.

Good luck with your book!

That sounds amazing!! So far books and greenhouse work have been very eye opening for me. In the best sort of way😄 I have spent countless hours and days reading about orchids and tropical plants. It took me years of reading and several failed box-store Phals before I ever had the nerve to buy my first "different" orchids. A 2" Vanilla seedling, my Stanhopea seedling cross and a now long passed Gongora cross were the first of many. I actually really enjoy divisions and rescue plants, I get real satisfaction from getting these guys to grow😄

I have so much appreciation for the library and forums like these. Besides forums, speaking to people with growing and blooming experience is an absolute treat!! You can find out so much information just by being social with other plant enthusiasts. You would actually make an incredible interview some day, I just need to organize all of my eggs and get this project going😂😂 I love that you work with the library and public to spread your knowledge and passion. I feel like there are not nearly enough people like you in this world💕 I hope I'll have the chance to hear and see your presentation some day too!!
