Hello orchidboard
I started collecting orchids about 10 years ago when I lived in Brazil. Hot rainy summers, and cool dryish winters. So easy. Just buy them, put them in my trees, and away they went. All sorts of orchids, and I only ever lost one.
I now live in Portugal, and am finding it a totally different ball-game. Hot dry summers and cool damper winters. Due to googling to find out what my orchids are suffering from, (seems to be rot in general;a lot of the orchids arrive in the shops in decomposing damp bark) I have learned a lot about them, and am trying different ways to care for them. Orchid Board has been a regular source of info.
I presently have some phalaenopsis, a dendrobium phal, and a vanda. I did have some cambria orchids, but I didn´t manage to keep them going. Will try again with them, tho.
Thanks again.

Welcome to the Orchid Board. Glad you joined us. Cool damp winters huh? Can you grow Masdevallias outside for half a year?

Also I wanted to mention that your username reminds me of the old song by the Everly Brothers "Wake Up Little Susie". One of my faves.

Thank you. I will read up about them, and see if I can find any.
