Brand new to the board and to orchids in general. I once had an orchid which died during several moves, and now own two, one of which is putting out new leaves. I would love to grow them on my lanai but need all the help DI can get

Welcome! The fastest way to learn how to grow them where you live is to join a nearby orchid society. I bet there are orchid societies somewhere around Cape Coral, Saratoga and Naples.

Hi, I am in Naples, and I think there is an orchid society around the botanical garden.

I bought my orchids in Sams club and Home Depot.
the Sams orchid is putting out new leaves on the old stalk; the other one has something growing out of the root area but I am not sure if it is a new flower stalk. The tag on the Home Depot orchid says Phal Spicy Girl.

I guess I need to get a diagram of the parts of the orchid so I can tell what's going on.
