Default Visiting San Francisco, Calfifornia

I'm going to be in SF the first week of November for a work conference. I won't have a lot of free time, but I'm wondering if there are any good orchid "field trips" I could take?

Anybody have suggestions?

I'm planning to go the conservatory of flowers in Golden Gate park. That is where I feel in love with Stanhopeas a long long time ago.

Any other greenhouses, nurseries, etc. I wouldn't mind doing a little shopping....

I won't have a car, but I'm pretty familiar with BART.

I would love to visit Andy's but that is about 7 + hour drive from San Francisco. I've never been to Calif., I'm not much help, sorry. Just dreaming.

I will also be in the bay area in a couple of weeks. Following this thread. I know that, Sebastopol, north of SF, is home to California carnivores, a big carnivorous plant nursery. At least, it was in 2007...

Yeah I actually had thought about going to San Diego for Andy's open house this coming weekend. But I didn't get organized soon enough.

Nice about the society meeting. I'll definitely want to go to that.

Thanks for the ideas everybody...keep 'em coming.

The Conservatory of Flowers in GG Park. There is always some orchids in bloom.

ETA: You already knew that. It's such a nice place, needs to be mentioned again!

There might be early camellias and rhododendrons in bloom in Golden Gate Park.
