Welcome to the board. This is the place to learn. I would have to say it will give you better results than the books. I'm not knock en the books it just seems better to me to be able to ask the questions you need and get a very detailed answer from growers.

Books provide an excellent guide people provide the experience. If you can join a local society and you will gain even more. Welcome to this world.

Books are expensive, and orchid board can help, but eventually a book will probably be needed or wanted. I myself suffer from the malady of bibliomania. Welcome to the Orchid Board!!!
