Welcome to the forums! Very nice species! I grow many of the same species. Do you grow your orchids inside our outdoors? If you grow them outdoors how cold/hot does it get in your area?

Hi, ephyphite, I grow most of my orchids outside(two balconys and one window), some at the bathroom, and some at place like a balcony but inside the appartment.

Here in Buenos Aires, temperatures go in summer from 25 to 38 ºC (77ºF to 104ºC), and during winter from 8 to 15 and are some days of 0ºC. But we have a very long fall and spring where temperatures are from 15 - 25 ºC. Humidity can range from 40 to 90ºC, average 75ºC.

As you can see, this conditions allow us to grow orchids from around the world, creating a climate for each orchid very easy.

Our climates are pretty similar... Buenos Aires is at 34°34'S latitude and 20 feet elevation while Los Angeles is at 34°3'N latitude and 256 feet elevation.

Doing a side by side comparison it seems that the weather here in Los Angeles is slightly hotter and colder than the weather in Buenos Aires. So pretty much any orchid that we can grow outdoors year around you should be able to grow outdoors year around. But there might be a few of your outdoor orchids that might not tolerate our wider range of temperatures.

Sydney is also fairly close "sister" climate but Cape Town is probably a little bit closer.

Thanks a lot for the information about climate, because its easy to share experiences, and to try with new ochids that other people have.

I will take more pictures from the spaces where I grow, and post the at the forum.
