Hi there! I ended up joining because coming September I want to make my first online purchase, and wanted to ask for previews experiences with the seller.

But I saw a ton of good posts and a good place to share and get advice from, so I decided to join.

I just recently started with the orchid thing but boy, I am truly obssesed.

I am originally from Andalusia in the South, with a very unforgiving climate, but when I moved to the Balearic Islands I purchased a couple of phals because here the climate is very mild with medium high humidity so I felt comfortable spending the money.

And after that I just got hooked up, got 11 orchids so far. And now I'm really into getting fragrant species, I just love the complexity and variability they have. So far I got an Oncidopsis Bartley Swarz, a Burrageara Nelly Isler and I got lucky with a fragrant phal hybrid with a sunset pattern.

Sorry if this was too long xD Happy growing, and may your flowers be everlasting :3

It's yellow and orange making like a golden colour with background and darker spots and the lip is pink and orange intertwined. The petals reminds me of a pattern a vanda would have. When I can post pictures I'll show you, but it's nothing too fancy.

Edit: if you google "phalaenopsis sunset" the first image you get is the hybrid I got. Each flower is a bit different tho in the intensity of each color, wich is a bonus for me

I've seen some of these for sale but without any ID, just "phalaenopsis".
What kind of orchids do you find for sale in Palma? Is there any specialized place?

I noticed it was a pattern I had never seen before, and I also noticed that the leaves were a lot more compact, closer to the species. So like always (I smell every orchid trying to find unexpected fragrant ones xD) I smelled it and it was mildy fragrant, the stick your nose in kind. It smells like white flores.

A few weeks ago there was an epic sale on Aldi, 6 euros each decorative pot included, and there were oncidium hybrids and even the Nelly Isler.
So I try to look the aldi and lidl catalogues just in case. Aside from that here there is a "Fronda", called here Magatzem Vert, thats like a hyper market just of plants.

It's kinda expensive, specially for vandas, but they have a TON of phals hybrids and some others that come and go, like oncidium, dendrobiums and their hybrids, vandas and now for example they have cymbidiums. So I go there every 2 weeks or so just to see if they have something new I want.

Muito obrigado :P

Hello and welcome!
