hej! from Sweden
Hello! nice to join you guys. I'm 30 year old from Sweden, been more and more bitten by the orchid bug so I'm slowly giving away my other plants to make more space for orchids. Also checking out artificial lighting because I grow in Sweden which isn't exactly known for blue skies and warm weather through the winter. I mostly have phals but very much in love with Vandas. Ordered some new ones from Holland just now, gonna be great. I grow 100% in water culture and have had success with it, no casualties so far.

Not that many, around 20. I want to find out which ones I can grow easily here so I'm collecting several genera. I have dendrobiums, phals, phaps, oncidiums, one zygopetalum, one catt, cymbidiums and, at last, pbulbs of a stanhopea and xylobiums which are not certain to grow.
My climate is more friendly than yours. Probably it would be easier for you to grow draculas and masdevallias. It's impossible to me to grow these which is something I would love to do.

In the summer I could somewhat easily make the condition they want but I'm not sure how to achieve the night-time temps. The phals seem to grow nicely, I've bought some Vandas and an Rhynchostylis gigantea I am looking forward to geting aswell. I'm gonna buy some artificial lighting for the winter so I think that will help with the more sun-loving ones. :-) I am not ready to make any terrarium but having one would open up more options.

Welcome Anna. I started with phals and branched out to vandas and Paphiopedilums. I have a Dracula as well. My climate is hot and humid in the summer so I need to make sure the Dracula has plenty of water and air flow. As said before you could probably do well with those.

Have you heard of them growing in water culture? I have been checking out some draculas. If I place it at an open window it can easily get enough air and right temps. Maybe I can dare? I think paphs are gorgeous but haven't gotten that far yet So much looking forward to starting up Vandas. I have a Sanderiana seedling and a pachara delight seedling who will take many years before bloom but I am gonna be so happy when it happens. They live in small drinking glasses.
Thanks for the welcome guys!
