Hello from Orchid Island Florida
I am a new member to your wonderful site. I have several orchids attached to trees in our yard that are doing well. I started growing Orchids about 3 years ago when we moved to Florida. I noticed them growing wild in our yard, so I added more from the annual Vero Beach Orchid show. I brought home a gorgeous Dendrobium Suree Peach a few weeks ago, it has been going downhill ever since. Dropping leaves, I am afraid we are going to lose it. I took several good photo's to show the problem plant, but cannot post them because I am a new member to this board. I wonder if someone could look at my photo's & give your opinion. Any suggestions as to how I can post my photo's? UPDATE: photo's are now attached

Hi Islander,
You won't be able to post photos until you've reached 5 posts.
Have you taken the plant out of the pot and looked at the roots? It may need to be repotted.

hi, no I have not looked at the roots yet. I was hoping someone would look at the photo's before I took it out of the pot. By the time I get 5 posts under my belt, it will be too late. Too bad scammers caused this 5 post thing. I am just an honest retired person looking for some good advice. Will it cause more shock to remove from pot? It is in a clay orchid pot with several drain holes with a bark mixture (no sphagnum etc). I very much appreciate you taking the time to reply. Thank You UPDATE: It looks like I will get to 5 posts sooner than I thought. I just removed it from the pot to look at the roots. I earlier said there was no sphagnum, I was wrong about that. I think I will post under Pests & Diseases when I am allowed to add photo's.

Welcome, Islander. Tbe commonest causes of leaf drop this time of year would be sunburn, dead roots or not enough water. I would take the plant out of the pot and look at the roots.

Yes, I will look at the roots. I will take photo of roots to share as I am new at this & not sure I know what troubled roots look like. Thank you very much for your reply to my post.

To get your 5 posts, just reply here or anywhere with a simple comment on a flower or just a "hi!".
2ndly, Suree Peach is not registered, so could not get parent info.
3rdly, you have a Dendrobium. Whatever kind you have, they have psuedobulbs (pbulbs)/canes that support the plant with nutrients. If the pbulbs are plump, you have time to correct it's care.
Finally, this is a pretty good write up on Dendrobium care.
