Newbie here...
HELLO everybody! I saw this forum a while ago and finally decided to join. I've been growing for 3 years, with no end in sight , and have fallen into the world of miniatures. I've been setting up a fish tank for my mini's and just wanted to know if anyone out here could help. I need to put a fan in and don't know how to convert a computer fan?!?! If you have any idea I would appreciate it! THANKS

 WELCOME TIM!
Glad you can join us here at the OB
It's nice to see someone as young as yourself discovering the wonderful world of orchids
There are quite a few people here who have built orchidariums and terrariums - Check out the Terrarium Gardening Forum - http://www.orchidboard.com/community...ium-gardening/
and quite a few that love minis - including me .. check out the Miniature Show and Tell Forum, as well - http://www.orchidboard.com/community...res-show-tell/
And again

May I ask how you got into orchids . I find it interesting to know how people get sucked into this addiction.

I have had an affinity for orchids way before I started collecting them. My mom and grandma were avid gardeners and plant growers. I had always been fascinated with them but their true impact of them came upon me once I started buying and caring for them .. then I found OB and from there .. well .. it's history ..

Welcome to the Board! For the computer fans, you can goto Radio Shack or something similar and get a 12volt power converter. Converts 110wattAC to 12voltDC. The lower the mili amps(mA), the slower the fan(S) turn. I run 3&4in fans on 400mA, 8in+ on 1000mA. Gota wire it yourself & the fans will only turn if hooked up properly but no worries on fryin the fans if u hook it up wrong at 1st.

Hey, Tim!!
Welcome!! How did I get involved with orchids? Well, let's see. I had been a Master Gardener for approximately six years. (that's a story all by itself) I needed to have some educational hours in order to fulfill my requirements. My wife had been going to orchid events for a year or so. I asked them if the seminar would be considered for my requirements and they said yes. That is how I got started. SInce then, I was President and am now Vice President of my local society. Being an officer is work, but has been fun. Since I set up most of our seminars and programs, I have met a lot of interesting people. I hope that answers your question.

Hello, thanks for the info, I had no idea you needed a converter, that would have been a problematic road to cross!

I use a universal AC adapter that is adjustable from 3V to 12V... Adjusting the voltage will slow down or speed up the fan.
