Smile Hello from Chicago Suburbs

Hello Everyone,
I am new to Orchids and am so hooked. I have 5 Phals,2 lady slipper, and 1 new onc. Reading as much material as I can to keep these beautiful ladies growing, which can be a challenge here in a mostly sunless, cold wintery area. So glad to have found this forum with a wealth of info.
Jill

I feel your pain Jill but seeing blooms during these gloomy days is so rewarding.

Welcome Jill. Not sure where in the burbs you are, but another member here is in the Chicago burbs as well (now that I think about it, there are quite a few.)

Default Just think of it this way-you are close to one

of the nicest greenhouses for orchids in the area-Oak Hill in West Dundee. Welcome to the site!

Thank you everyone! Gregg you are right I am in Bartlett,
15 minutes from Oak Hill. Was there a couple of weeks ago and bought a phal from them. They are the nicest people!

15 minutes from Oak Hill? What a treat!
We have members growing orchids in places around the world that make us al wonder how they do it! If you need help with anything, just ask and I'm sure your new friends will come up with the answers for you.

We'd love some ...we're almost as addicted to orchid photos as we are to orchids!

Unhappy

Thank you Susan,
I sure will as soon as I get better ... I developed pneumonia over the weekend, am resting and taking lots of meds and shuffling over to check on my plants. My DH tried to help me with watering and misting and that sent me into a panicked mode! I hope to feel well enough by the weekend to attend Hausermann orchids open house this weekend.
Will post some pictures as soon as i physically can.
Thank you, Jill

Default I thought that was last weekend

Don't mean to make you panic, but I know some folks that went last weekend.
