Default Greetings from Florida!

Hi everyone!

I recently adopted several orchids from my grandpa who passed away. I have never taken care of orchids and have always thought I had a black thumb so to speak.

These used to live outdoors in Miami, Florida and now live in north central Florida. I am just hoping that they can make the adjustment. Sure enough the Phals are budding!

I created a hanging fixture below a yucca plant for some of them:

Another two are inside. Below is the best budding Phal I have:

The two other orchids I have are Cattleyas from what I can tell. Upon doing some research I learned that only the new pseudobulbs will produce spikes, so I need to repot them for sure as soon as the temp stops dropping to the 40s at night.

I have one orchid that I have no idea what kind of Cattleya it is (if it even is one). I will post pics of it soon in the ID subforum for help!

I look forward to contributing to this community and posting pics when (yes, when!) they bloom. Any comments or suggestions will always be appreciated!

Thank you!! I never expected it would be so rewarding already.

It wasn't hard either. Taking care of orchids seem to be more of a hands off approach, compared to other plants, which suits my laziness. I only just started fertilizing them and the minimal once a week watering is super convenient!
