Hi from Florida Male
Cool Hi from Florida

My name is Richard, I live in NW Florida, started with orchids 2 years ago knowing absolute nothing about them and only killed 2 so far. My growing area is outdoors and patio which is great 7 months a year, so I built an 8X7X4 box on the patio for wintering. I pink trees and they provide bright shade and using 6" shepherds hooks and wood dowel rod I move them as needed. my first orchids were rescues from hardware and grocery stores or seedlings in mesh bags, since I graduated to spending way too much but worth it all when they bloom.

Hello Richard welcome to the board. I hate to tell you this but just wait. If you think you are spending to much now, take a look around here and it will get even worse.

Oh well it sounds like you already have a bit of an addiction. And only killing 2, that's pretty good. I'm not tellin how many I have put under.

Welcome! I grow outdoors in Florida also. I find it very rewarding but there are unique challenges to growing outdoors also.

Thanks all, will try not kill everyone with thousands of questions at once, maybe a little at at time. Hope to find some one in my immediate area that experiences the same climate, I do not have the luxury of a nearby society so please bear with me, thanks again
