Default Hello from the United Kingdom

Hello orchid lovers, growers and all amazing people here.

Greetings from the Cambridge, UK.
I have no idea why i have not joined this forum earlier!
My name is Robert, 28 years old here and I have been growing orchids from 2012. Not much really, had almost 30 at one point but couldn't contain all of it on my windowsill. Now I got a new job and I'm moving and will have to downsize to only 14-ish!
My most loved orchids are Paphiopedilums, can't get enough of them and will take any Paph people want to give away! Because they are so expensive! But also am growing a few nice Phalaenopsis because I found some exciting patterns on the flowers and fragrance! Two cattleyas! Two beallaras, and a odontioda Stirbic and a odontoglossum alliance hybrid which name is too long for me to remember.

If anybody is interested I have an orchid blog.

I am looking forward of being a part of this amazing forum!

Rob

Welcome Rob. Our threads may not cross since I am a vanda lover. In particular I love a small vanda from Japan, South Korea and China which used to be called Neofinetia falcata. The taxonomists just renamed it Vanda falcata. It has been cultivated about four hundred years and there are over one thousand cultivars of it. It fits on a windowsill and is temperature tolerant. Many colorful hybrids are being made. It is fragrant. Cheers

Hello!
I have seen and heard of Neofinetia falcata and really liked how they look and flower. However they are on my - if I ever get a house own my own - to buy list. But will be glad to see how they perform for you!

Welcome

I hear the UK gets very cold at certain times of the year and seeing sun (even in summer) is a blessing.

How do you deal with low light conditions and temperature conditions?

Always wanted to live in London, greetings from Australia
