Hello From Quebec...

Hi All,

My name is Doug, I stumbled across this forum a couple of weeks ago and just had to sign up. Looks great!

I live in Quebec, about 50 kilometres north of Montreal. I've been growing orchids since about 1980 or so. Started with one Phalaenopsis that I found at a local greenhouse, and the rest is history...

Right now I have about 60 orchids (down from about 100 ten years ago). Mostly Phalaenopsis, with about half a dozen Paphs and a few favourite botanicals.

I have a few shots of some of my orchid blooms posted on my website (which includes samples of a lot of my other photographs) - see the link in my signature below.

I'll be sure to join in on discussion threads here & there in the coming weeks...

Welcome Doug. Your "little website" shows a real appreciation for art and composition. Be sure and frequent our Photography section of the board. While it isn't the most popular section of this board, there are some real passionate photogs and picture takers posting there and you might find it comfortable there.

I especially like your vision in the orchids section of your site. I personally have posted that the same frequent black backgrounds get boring (to me) and I see a lot of thought given to your images. I personally use a D200, lots of specialized lenses (including the rarely seen 85mm T/S micro) and photograph exclusively in Nikon RAW and post process in Capture NX. So there may be something in common. I'm looking forward to your vision being added to this board.

Bonjour Doug - Welcome to the forum. Looks like our locations are fairly close by each other.
Nice web site for sure. We're all slightly photo crazy around here. I don't take many of them just mostly look at others
