Hi, I'm fairly new to growing orchids but already addicted! I'm a member of the Cayman Islands Orchid Society and we meet on a monthly basis. We are preparing for our annual Orchid Show which will be held on the 8th & 9th of March at the "Queen Elizabeth 2 Botanic Park" in Grand Cayman.

Hi Andre! Welcome to the OB. I was on your lovely island one year ago today. We stayed on the east end and enjoyed the QE2 Botanic Park very much. Those blue iguanas are amazing! I looked and looked for the rare orchid section but we could never find it. I wonder if it all blew away with Ivan? I hope we can go back again one day. What chids are you growing?

Hi Terri,
I'm glad that you enjoyed our Botanic park; the orchid house is not in the general visitors area of the park but we are working on changing that! Hurricane Ivan did destroy a lot though and it was closed for a long time. I grow the usuals, mostly dens but also have vandas/ascda, brassavola, cattleya, encyclia, vanilla (leafless)schomburgkia, psychopsis, oncidium, phal, phaius, phaph, maxillaria, and probably a few others but I've listed the main ones.

Hi Andree

Hope you like Orchid Board. It is a great place for information from friendly people who are happy to help. Cayman Islands - what an interesting place. Orchids probably grow there without too much fuss and no orchid house required. What is the population of Caymen Islands? Post some pics if you get a chance. I love pics.

Regards
Sue
