Thanks again for kind welcome, all.
If you were going to visit one Oakland Nursery, the main store on Oakland Park Avenue seems to consistently have the most variety. They scatter the orchids throughout the small greenhouse just off the main entrance, although most are in the center island, and the marked down orchids are tucked in the back of the greenhouse, kind of squirrelled away in a corner. Most seem to come from Owens Orchids in NC.
The nursery is just off I-71. Some folks think it's in a dicey area of town, but it really isn't.

Welcome from a fellow newbie! I, too, can't resist those cheap, sick orchids at the local hardware or grocery store. Nothing beats the thrill of saving a sick plant and being rewarded with blooms, even if it takes a while.

Hello and welcome to the forum! Always great to see someone else from Ohio here!
Surprisingly, we have quite a few Orchid Societies in Ohio and, as already mentioned, there is one in Columbus. The great thing about Orchid Societies is that they each have a show where you can buy orchids and supplies (Roberts Flower Supply, owned by Wayne Roberts attends most of the Ohio shows as well as the Pittsburgh show and you can preorder supplies from him and pick them up at the shows, saving shipping and handling). Most of them seem to take place in the spring, after we have suffered through the winter and are eager for some greenery.
Again, hello and welcome and great to have you on board!
