Hi from the Midwest!
Default Hi from the Midwest!

Hello fellow orchid lovers! Since I began collecting orchids several years ago I have found myself browsing this site time and time again. Now that I had to rearrange my dining room to accommodate my orchids I figured it was time to make it official and join! So glad to be here and thanks for all the great information I have gleaned in the past and the tsunami and I am sure will follow!

Thanks! Happy to join a group that understands it is perfectly normal to go into an orchid store swearing that you will only buy one or two and going home with 10. I swear they are worse than potato chips!

Howdy! Think about joining a local orchid society if one is nearby. Can't get into too much trouble there but watch out when you hit the orchid shows or auctions...then we can discuss potato chips!

Welcome. Hope you enjoy replacing furniture near windows with shelves and bringing light fixtures into the house.

Thanks all! I am getting good at replacing furniture for shelves already. Haha! Problem is there is really one good window for growing things in my house. No East or West windows at all. Just one really good South facing bay window. But....we are moving in a year or two and I am getting a garden window (and windows on all sides of the house). Yeah!

Anyone know if there are orchid get togethers near Columbia, MO? I know there is an active group in Kansas City but with my time constraints it's not practical for me to go there for meetings right now. I would love to visit Bird's Botanicals though! A cave full of orchids, I have to see that.

Welcome Spitfire! I'm in KC. You definitely need to come see the caves!! I'm there every Tuesday evening, usually potting up orchids or carnivorous plants. 10,000+ plants to see, including a lot of rare stuff. Just amazing
