Hi friends,

Newbie here, excited to begin learning! Thanks in advance for all your help and sorry for many stupid questions.

My interest in orchids began with watching native Vanda roxburghii growing on mango trees in West Bengal. India, 22 North, 88 East approximately. Tough little orchids, small and interesting flowers.

Grew some Dendrobium fimbriatum. At the time, orchids were a preserve for the VERY WEALTHY ONLY, mind you, and not for plebes like us. So, could only admire from a distance, but separation makes the heart grow fonder or something like that. Many decades have passed!

I saw then a small cattleya-like plant (?) in bloom, smallish single flowers, no sprays, pure white with a soft yellow throat, with an intoxicating fragrance that I have never been able to forget.

My hope is to find some experts here who might point me towards similar types or perhaps that very same species?

Perhaps also find experts who might guide me to sources for Thunia spp., and other very fragrant types, including Cattleyas.

Thanks very much.

G.
