I just joined and was recently bitten by the orchid bug. I bought my first one at the grocery store in late April. It is a mini Phal. Since then, I found two growers locally and added a few from them to my collection. I also added a few from eBay sellers that are not far from me. I love Cattleya and the mini Cats. I bought the most unusual Vanda at a grower. It smells heavenly and is enjoying the summer hanging in my dappled shade yard. I now have 17 orchids, of which 5 are Phals, which are pretty but I really like the fragrant orchids. I bought some clear shelves to hang in my 5 foot by 5 foot kitchen window that faces west. Since my yard is shaded by huge oak trees, the light is bright but it only gets a few minutes of sunlight during the summer. So far, everyone is happy in that window. I'm still learning and hoping I do not kill any of my orchids. I only water the potted ones when they are dry or mostly dry and the ones in net pots every other or every third day.

Welcome to OB and the wonderful world of orchids. I got the bug a little over three years ago and still loving these wonderful plants. Good luck and post some pictures of your blooms when they come - we always love seeing flowers around this place.
